1. Introduction

What is the Kaonic 1S

The Kaonic 1S is Beechat’s flagship tactical MIMO software-defined radio (SDR) platform.

It is a rugged, embedded Linux-based device that enables secure, decentralised mesh networking without reliance on towers, satellites, or fixed infrastructure.

The Kaonic integrates the Reticulum networking stack with Beechat’s own HopSync™ frequency-hopping protocol, supporting long-range, resilient communication across sub-GHz (868 / 902–928 MHz) and 2.4 GHz bands.

Core goals

  • Resilient – maintain communication in disconnected, jammed, or denied environments.

  • Secure – identity-based cryptography, post-quantum-ready encryption, and zero-trust architecture.

  • NDAA-Compliant – designed and manufactured in Europe with ITAR-free sourcing.

  • Infrastructure-Free – operate autonomously without central servers or GPS dependency.

  • Scalable – from small teams to multi-node meshes and UAV swarms with up to 128 hops.
