First mesh

Preconditions

• Two Kaonic units, antennas fitted, both booted
• Both on the same radio module/channel plan (defaults: 869.535 MHz, 200 kHz spacing, OFDM; module 0 channel 3, module 1 channel 11)
• Select an authorised frequency, bandwidth, and transmit power for your jurisdiction before transmitting.

Steps

1. Connect a laptop to unit A's AP (or USB).
2. Open the gateway UI. Note this node's Reticulum destination hash (Reticulum / identity page).
3. Repeat on unit B.
4. On each VPN/peer page, add the other's destination hash.
5. Confirm radio TX/RX counters move and that a ping across 10.20.0.0/16 (default VPN network in Config.toml) or the advertised 192.168.10.0/24 behaves as configured.

If nothing airs: systemctl status kaonic-commd kaonic-gateway, then troubleshooting.

Voice/PTT and ATAK are optional applications and are not required for a first Reticulum link.
